Mac: screen permission
Fix a black screen or non-working mouse when controlling a Mac with Veyndesk: allow Screen Recording and Accessibility in macOS Privacy & Security.
Last updated 31 October 2026 · Veyndesk 0.5.1
macOS doesn't let apps see the screen or control the mouse until you allow it. If your partner sees a black or empty screen, or the mouse and keyboard don't work, do this on the Mac being controlled:
Allow screen recording
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording (on macOS 15 and later: Screen & System Audio Recording). On macOS 12 and earlier: System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy → Screen Recording.
- Turn Veyndesk on. If it isn't listed, click + and choose Veyndesk in Applications.
Allow control (Accessibility)
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
- Turn Veyndesk on (or add it with +).
Restart Veyndesk
Quit Veyndesk completely (Veyndesk → Quit) and open it again; macOS applies these permissions only after a restart. The partner must reconnect.
Still not working?
- If you updated Veyndesk, macOS may keep an old entry. Remove Veyndesk from both lists with −, add it again, and restart the app.
- “Veyndesk” Not Opened – Apple could not verify “Veyndesk” is free of malware (or “unidentified developer”): click Done, then System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll down → Open Anyway → enter your password → Open. This appears because the app isn't notarized by Apple yet. On macOS 14 and earlier, right-click the app → Open also works.
macOS support is new and has not yet been tested by the maintainer on a physical Mac, so please report what you see, including your macOS version and Mac model.
